Bruno Amaral, Ph.D.
Dairy Technical Specialist
Vita Plus

Please describe your agricultural background.
I was born in Brazil where my grandparents worked on coffee and dairy farms.  I am passionate about dairy and spent most of my time during my education years gaining experience and understanding of how the dairy industry works and what farmers’ needs are.  I love to be on a dairy daily.

What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I received my B.S. and M.S. in animal science from the University of Lavras in Brazil.  I then earned a Ph.D. in dairy nutrition from the University of Florida.  That’s also where I did my post-doctorate work in dairy management and physiology.

What previous positions have you held?
After finishing my education at the University of Florida, I worked for a mineral company in Michigan for 10 months.

What are your new responsibilities?
As a Dairy Technical Specialist, I will offer technical support to field staff and customers in addition to dairy nutrition consulting services.

What territory will you cover?
I will cover mainly Michigan and Ohio.

What excites you most about working in your new role?
I am looking forward to helping our dairy nutrition and consulting team in Michigan.  I am excited about getting to know the farmers and their needs and helping them to be profitable.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
I will help my customers understand their operations and get to know their employees better.  I’ll be a team player on their dairies in order to communicate (in Spanish as well) better and help the farmers be more profitable.

Why did you choose this company?
It is a great pleasure to be a member of Vita Plus.  This employee-owned company has wonderful values that are lived every day by every single employee.  The number of years that several employees have worked here tells a lot about the company.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
My goals are to provide technical support for our Michigan and Ohio dairy teams and to help our producers reach their goals.
